Our Commitment
SomeConf strives to create an inclusive, welcoming environment for everyone.
We believe in fostering a space that is friendly, safe, and respectful, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion, preferred operating system, programming language, or text editor choice.
This document outlines the standards of behavior expected from all participants and the actions that may be taken in response to violations.
We encourage all attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and organizers to contribute to a positive and respectful conference experience.
Supporting Open Source Values
Beyond ensuring a safe space, this code of conduct aims to promote strong connections within the open-source community.
We encourage participants to recognize and support those who contribute to making our community more inclusive and engaging.
To highlight these contributions, SomeConf organizers will accept nominations throughout the event and publicly acknowledge outstanding community members on our website after the conference.
If you witness someone making an extra effort to create a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere, please let us know by visiting the Registration Desk or reaching out to us on our contact form.
Expected Behavior
- Treat others with respect, kindness, and consideration.
- Avoid any language or behavior that is discriminatory, demeaning, or harassing.
- Be aware of your surroundings and the well-being of those around you. If you notice someone in distress or a concerning situation, notify event organizers.
- Engage with the event in a meaningful and constructive way. Your participation helps shape SomeConf into a welcoming space for all.
Inappropriate Behavior
Unacceptable actions include, but are not limited to, harassment, intimidation, abuse, discrimination, or any demeaning conduct. Please remember that SomeConf venues are shared spaces that may include members of the public, so respect for all patrons is expected.
Harassment may include offensive comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disability; unwelcome sexual attention; inappropriate use of nudity or sexual imagery in public areas (including presentations); stalking, intimidation, or following; unauthorized photography or recording with malicious intent; disrupting sessions or other conference activities; and inappropriate physical contact.
Consequences for Violations
Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated from any participant, including attendees, sponsors, organizers, venue staff, or others involved in the event.
Anyone asked to stop inappropriate behavior is expected to comply immediately.
The event organizers reserve the right to take necessary actions, which may include removing an individual from the conference without prior notice or a refund.
Reporting Concerns
If you experience or witness any form of unacceptable behavior, please reach out to a conference organizer immediately.
The SomeConf team is available to assist with connecting participants to venue security or law enforcement, providing escorts, or otherwise ensuring a safe and supportive experience.
Volunteers can help direct you to an organizer, or you may visit the Registration Desk in the lobby for assistance.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all participants at SomeConf, including sponsors, volunteers, speakers, attendees, and guests.
It is enforced at all conference venues and related social events.
